Ask General Manuel Antonio Noriega if he fears Uncle Sam, and he will tell you.
“I have absolutely no fear. I have no reason to be afraid. And I am never nervous. These nights, I sleep exactly as always, which is about six hours. I go to bed around twelve and I am up every morning at 5:30. I fear nobody.”
But Noriega concedes his wife has fears.
“Each day, when I leave the house, she is not sure that I am coming back. Like every woman, she worries about her man. But my wife, who’s a good Catholic, is very religious. She has faith. However, if I am killed, it will be in my own land, and I will go down fighting. I am not going anywhere. I have no intention of leaving this country.”
